Women's Wellness Circle: Last Wednesday of every month at 1pm PT/4pm ET/8pm UTC

Women’s Wellness Circle

Women's Wellness Circle is a Women's Studies Online educational initiative aimed at prioritizing women's unique biological and social health and wellness needs throughout our life stages. Through educational presentations, guest speakers, resource sharing and virtually-based discussions, we'll learn about health and wellness - broadly defined - within this circle. This circle is open to all women, you don't need to be a member of WMST to attend.

The power to make decisions about our bodies should be in our own hands, not dictated by societal norms or institutions (Our Bodies, Ourselves, 1973)

Please join us for an informative discussion about reflexology with our very own Women's Studies Online staff Karen.

Karen became a certified Reflexologist in 1999 through the Reflexology Association of Canada RAC. She offered reflexology sessions to friends and family, as well as volunteered her services at health fairs and non-profit organizations supporting women.

What Is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural therapy based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that correspond to other parts, glands, and organs of the body. You can think of these reflexes like a map of the body on the soles of the feet. Through the application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology therapy can relieve tension, improve circulation, and support the body’s efforts to function optimally (Reflexology Association of Canada RAC).

Questions To Consider

  • Have you heard of reflexology before, and if so what is your impression of this ancient healing modality?
  • Have you received professional reflexology? What was your experience?
  • Do you ever go barefoot walking or purposefully walk on stones to stimulate the reflexes on the soles of your feet?
