Sistacircle is a weekly, drop-in educational support group for women survivors of male violence and/or the threat of male violence. Rooted in feminist theory, this circle is a space for reflection, learning, and resistance. Free and peer-led, it centres survivors in their own liberation. Join us!

Feminist Activism

We invite you to discuss feminist based actions of any kind. Our focus is on organized feminist activism either in person or virtually aimed at ending women's exploitation and male violence against women, fighting for sex based rights, and creating social and systemic change to better women's lives.

Spotlight On Fay Blaney

Fay Blaney is a Xwemalhkwu woman of the Coast Salish Nation. Fay is a founding member of the Aboriginal Women's Action Network (AWAN), educator, and long time activist promoting awareness on the impacts of colonization, and male violence against Indigenous women (Canada's National Observer, 2018).

Fay continues to inspire us with her dedication to fighting for Indigenous women's right to be free from the ongoing attacks of male violence, raising awareness on the cumulative impacts of colonization, and challenging the unequal status of Indigenous women in Canada.

"Those who are behind the campaign to ‘Expand the Inquiry’ fail to understand that colonization bestowed patriarchal privileges upon men while disempowering women, a reality that is exacerbated by racism. Despite ‘Expands’ claim of being “marginalized” by the Inquiry, demographic data clearly points to the degree of marginalization that Indigenous women and girls face in their communities of origin, as well as in the broader Canadian society" (Blaney, 2021).
