Sistacircle takes place every Tuesday at 10am PST/1pm EST/6pm UTC

Sistacircle is a weekly, drop-in educational support group for women survivors of male violence and/or the threat of male violence. Rooted in feminist theory, this circle is a space for reflection, learning, and resistance. Free and peer-led, it centres survivors in their own liberation. Join us!

Discussion Care Note: Our circle may include conversations about male violence against women and girls. Please prioritize your well-being and take care of yourself while engaging with this material. Feeling overwhelmed is a natural response to trauma. You are encouraged to honor your needs at any time by muting, turning off your video, or stepping out of the circle without explanation. We invite sharing while being mindful of limiting graphic details—focusing on the impact of trauma can foster connection without reliving the harm.

Feminist Activism

We invite you to discuss feminist based actions of any kind. Our focus is on organized feminist activism either in person or virtually aimed at ending women's exploitation and male violence against women, fighting for sex based rights, and creating social and systemic change to better women's lives.

Spotlight On 16 Days Of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

United Nations General Assembly designated the 16 days of activism in 1999. November 25th commemorates the lives of the Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic who were violently assassinated in 1960 (Government of Canada, 2025).

Questions To Consider

  • When you think about the 16 Days of Activism, what feelings or images come to mind?
  • Are you familiar with this international campaign, or have you participated in it before? If yes, would you like to share what that looked like for you?
  • How do you feel about the term “gender-based violence” as a way to describe the epidemic of male violence against women?
  • Do you think it is more effective to use gender-neutral language to promote inclusivity, or more specific language that names the primary source of harm, even if it risks leaving some people out?
  • What barriers or obstacles might prevent the broader public from participating in—or even acknowledging—campaigns like the 16 Days of Activism?
