Sapphic Circle is a space for lesbians to come together to explore feminist issues, build solidarity, and connect over shared experiences. We seek to build lesbian community through engaging in lesbian ideas, politics, media, and feminist resistance!
Sapphic Circle on specified Sundays, 12pm-1:30pm PT/ 3pm-4:30pm ET/ 7pm-8:30pm UTC.
"If there’s one thing that all lesbians have in common, it’s the ability to say
“no” to coercion. Tell a lesbian not to do something, and she'll turn right
around and do it. That’s the essence of the lesbian." - Julia Penelope
Because these events were women-only and private, lesbians flocked to them in droves and recreated them locally. Given the political climate for lesbians, there were very few places they could vacation without fear of being outed as homosexuals.
"Many female activists... are gazing thoughtfully into the glowing embers of lesbian culture. For us, this is still an active campfire where we gather and warm ourselves; one which, we hope, will not fade away into forgotten ash, but instead retain hot coals to stoke new fires." - Bonnie Morris
